Ezekiel Oliveira, Creative Director FiveLines – A Contemporary Dance Initiative.
Ezekiel Oliveira is originally from Portugal where he studied new circus and contemporary dance. He graduated from London Contemporary Dance School in 2007 and had since performed extensively in the U.K, and Europe works by Tamzin Fitzgerald, Hofesh Schechter, Stephan Koplowitz, Henrique Cabrera, Helene Blackburn, Libby Seward and Alaine Handa.
With Balbir Singh Dance Company he created ‘Decreasing Infinity’ and ‘Synchronized’- Cultural Olympiad 2012.
He was guest dance artist for ‘DisGo’ in 2010 and in 2011 Ezekiel created ‘Blake Diptych’, ‘Innocence and Experience’ in collaboration with Fleur Darkin Company.
Ezekiel Oliveira has been teaching and lecturing in contact improvisation, floor work technique, choreography and repertoire for the last five years. He was a regular guest teacher at Bolzano Danza, LASALLE College of the Arts and NAFA amongst others.
Ezekiel teaches contemporary dance in a wide range of settings, professional classes/training, universities, colleges and dance festivals.
In 2014 Ezekiel brought together his skills, knowledge and new collaborators under one roof in Singapore – FiveLines.
Since establishing FiveLines – a contemporary dance initiative Ezekiel Oliveira has had the pleasure of working and collaborating with an eclectic group of artists in Singapore.
He is a part-time lecturer at NAFA since 2014 teaching contact improvisation and upper body skills and has taught company class to Frontier DanceLand, T.H.E Dance Company ( and 2nd company) as well as Maya Dance Theatre.
In 2015 Ezekiel created and presented Skin- A Choreographic Response for Singapore Art Museum and #HazeSingapore for CityLights commissioned by Maya Dance Theatre.
In 2016 Ezekiel was appointed Associate Artist with Maya Dance Theatre choreographing Vent, and in April he was the dance artist in residency at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts where he choreographed ONWARDS for CROSSINGS in addition to choreographing SAVAGES for NTU Contempminated.
Alongside his choreographic work, Ezekiel has been devoting a large part of his time documenting and writing about dance in Singapore, compiling the most extensive online resource for dance – discussing choreography in public forums and enabling dance companies and venues to reach a new audience for dance.
